A Club Classic!! …The TURKEY TREK! (Note: a change in venue)
Join us to celebrate an amazing weekend of food and fun as we adventure and socialize in the lovely Kananaskis area (typically this event has run out of Nordegg, but we are switching it up this year!)
The club has booked 13 hostel beds at the HI Kananaskis Wilderness Hostel for Friday and Saturday nights on Oct 16 and 17 / 2026. The cost of both nights is $90 total / person. You will need to etransfer the $90 to roffeyc@gmail.com by 5pm on Wednesday, October 14 or your hostel bed will be cancelled and you will be removed from the trip.
Please note that when you register for the trip, you will be added to the waitlist and then moved over to the registered list once we confirm that there is still hostel apce available. This is necessary because the Kananaskis Hostel has gender specific dorms.
We will organize objectives, activities and logistics over a Whats App chat that will be created in early October.
Plans for the Weekend:
Check in to the Hostel Friday night and possibly have a chat all together Friday night if everyone has arrived in time.
Start time Saturday TBD. The activities for Saturday will be volunteer-led and can include hiking, scrambling, climbing or drytooling... depending on what trip participants are willing to lead and what people are stoked to do! Come with an open mind ready for fun! Returning to the hostel by about 4 pm will enable everyone to prepare their dish for supper.
There will be a Turkey dinner on Saturday night after our day of activity. This will be a pot luck style dinner, so a list will circulate asking participants to bring a dish to share.
Sunday can be open for smaller meet up group activities or commuting home via a coffee shop!
Note: A Whats App chat will be created closer to the event to discuss logistics and details.
Also please note there are no refunds once you have paid the $90 fee.
Prerequisites / Courses Required: Pack your Fun suit and be prepared.
Required items to bring: Any equipment that you need for the activity you wish to participate in (climbing?.... bring climbing gear, scrambling.... bring scrambling gear, etc.). At minimum bring hiking boots, mixed weather appropriate clothing, bear spray, water bottle, breakfast for 2 days, lunch for 2 days, your pot luck contribution.
As per club guidelines, participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodations and transportation.
